Cathy grew up in the Willamette Valley of western Oregon. It was there, at Cottage Grove High School, that she was first exposed to art. Several years later, while living in the western art mecca of Ellensburg, WA, she rekindled her interest in art and began to actively participate in the art world.

She began with pen and pencil and a flair for cowboy and wildlife art. Cathy never seemed to be satisfied with working with only one medium and later branched out into oils, scrimshaw, knife making, native American quill work, basketry, jewelry and others. All of these media eventually led her to gourd art. As you can see she incorporates many of these media into her gourd art.

Cathy is a self-taught artist who has an uncanny ability to look at a form of art and literally sit down and replicate the art methodology. This is evident in her beaded gourd bowls (Huichol Indian style). These beaded bowls feature geometric beading patterns that she creates free hand without drawing a pattern of any kind.

Cathy currently lives and creates her art in the foothills of the Gravelly Range near Ennis, MT where she and her husband, Rick, raised their two daughters, Jessica and Marquita, and especially enjoy their two grandchildren, Karlee and Tater. They now share an empty nest with numerous cats, dogs, horses, and one mule. She and Rick sincerely hope that you love her art as much as she loves creating it for you.
